  1. did this every day 4 20 yrs. Hand wash your boots and let dry(dont need 2 do this every day) Use a good black leather dye. get a can of kiwi polish, cottonballs and polish brush and apply a good coat of polish.Place a small amount of water in the lid of the polish, dip acotton ball in the water and start polishing in a circular motion.Alternate between water and polish untill they shine like glass.

  2. brush a thin layer of polish on boots then spit on the boot with a yellow duster work the spit and polish into the boot using smal circular movement take a clean duster to polish You may have to do this a few times to get a good gloss

you can use blue black ink but the ink is not as good as spit

Hence the saying "spit and polish"

  3. Instead of using water,

follow the basic steps outlined by others, then substitue alcohol for the water.  The alcohol will evaporate quicker and the polish will dissipate and come to a shine much quicker...

  4. I used to do this while watching television or listening to music so it didn't seem so tedious.

Grab the boot, wipe a damp (not wet) cloth over the area to be polished, now grab an old sock or t-shirt remnant or other soft cotton cloth and rub it into your polish, then give it a quick dip into a little bowl of water or you can spit directly onto the boot where you will be polishing. Now rub rub rub in a circular motion (we do this in small areas to prevent the polish from drying too quickly) until you have exhausted the polish on your rag. If you notice that you still have polish on your rag but it seems to be rubbing dry, spit on it again or add more water by dipping the polish part of the rag into the water. Keep adding polish and water till you have a brilliant shine. It used to take me about 30 minutes per jump boot to polish the entire thing but some people just polish the toes.
