This is going to be used on a tool box, not that it matters. I have tried a few things on it and nothing has worked. Im thinking homedepot or lowes may have something........

  1. http://search.yahoo.com/bin/search?fr=yb...

Search for your need here.  Different metals.

  2. It would help if we knew what kind of dirt/grime it is that needs to be cleaned off.... and whether the tool box is painted, crhome plated, or aluminum (like a truck tool box)

For oil/ grease you can use a mixture of Dawn dish soap and water, or brake parts cleaner, etc.  Stick to Dawn and some elbow grease if this is a painted toolbox, as the solvents you would use to clean with could also strip the paint.

If this is an aluminum tool box (like you see mounted on a truck bed), then you can get a metal polish to brighten it up, from any auto parts store.

    Good Luck

  3. Coke the soda pop it will clean the holy c**p out of anything - then you just wash off the sticky...

  4. A good sand blaster. you can regulate the pressure as well as use different media.  Like glass beads or corn cobs or sand.
