I have agreed to make the treat containers for my childs pre-k christmas party. I am using Large tin cans. I would love it if you guys could share your ideas on cute ways to decorate them.

For halloween the were painted black, with eyes and mouths and then wings were glued to the back to make bats. I didnt make those, and im not very crafty so any help woud be lovely!

  1. You can make any christmas character! Santa, rein deers, elfs.

  2. You could put wings on the back...and make Angels!

    Like..snow angels!

Fill them with goodies..!  Cookies, candies, candy canes!

    Good luck!

  3. paint them white for snow and then glue cotton and glitter and then get snowmen , santa reindeer, haunaka, etc christmas trees good luck!

  4. you could paint thee tin red and white like a candy cane . Then get 2 pieces of gift wrapping tissue and glue it to the top and bottom. This would make it look like one of those candies that you UN-twist from the wrapper. Do you get it?

  5. Snowmen. Good for Christams, Kwanzaa, Chanukah, Ramadan, etc.

I've worked in schools, and I'm almost urban, coming from Long Island outside of NYC.

  6. I love doing projects like that!  You could make the cutest Rudolphs.  All you would need to do is go to the fabric / craft store and buy brown felt or even brown paper.  Wrap it around and glue with craft glue or hot glue gun onto the can.  On some more brown card make some bumpy antler shapes and cut them out and bend a little bit of the end and glue onto the sides of the can.

Add two wiggly/googly eyes (you can buy big packs with heaps of eyes in them) and a little red pompom (fluffy ball) nose.

These shouldn't cost much and would look really cute.

Otherwise, you could do little Santa Cans - cover the cans with a nice red paper (scrapbook supplies are brilliant for this) and a little black strip of paper around the middle for his belt.  You can even buy tiny silver buckles if you want to really go crazy with it!!

Add two little googly/wiggly eyes (or even big ones would look funny and cute) a pale pink pompom nose, and cotton wool /balls beard.  You could add little red posterboard arms with little pink hands glued on if you wanted to bother.

Or you could do a cute snowy scene - cover the can a pretty pale blue and then on the bottom layer wrap around a white wavy snow layer of paper.  You can buy really cheaply some beautiful christmas stickers at scrapbook / craft stores of cute little 3D snowmen and snowflakes to stick all over the can - if the can has a handle - tie heaps of ribbons in red and white bows along the handles - these would look so pretty.

Hope my ideas help - I think I'll make some myself on a big can for a candy can near the front door for visitors to help themselves!!
