  1. The classic is a good one and Ebay has tons of them.

  2. Get him an ipod touch. It has 8-32 GB and 20 hr of battery. $300-400

  3. It really depends how much memory is 'lots'. Sometimes people don't realize that every GB is about 250 songs OR about an hour of video. If he still thinks he needs more than 32GB, then get him the iPod classic. However, if he doesn't get him an iPod touch, but keep in mind the 32GB version is a bit pricy - $499, while an 80GB classic would be $249.

    Battery life:

The iPod touch has 22-24 hours of audio, and 5 hours of video

iPod classic: 30 hours of audio and 5 hours of video for the 80GB model, and 40 hours of audio and 7 of video for the 160GB model

One of the biggest disadvantages of the iPod classic is that it's Hard-Drive based, which means it might lag, while the iPod touch uses flash-based memory.

  4. If your looking for the most in memory and battery life, I would recommend the Ipod classic. You can get them in 80 and 160GB, the touch only comes in 8GB and 16GB.
