Here's what I have to work with, what combo will give me the best performance running XP Pro?

Tyan S2460 dual-CPU motherboard w/FSB 266

ASRock K7S41GX single CPU motherboard w/FSB 333/266/200

AMD Athlon XP 3200+

AMD Athlon XP 2500+

AMD Athlon MP 1900+, 2 of them.

Everthing is socket A(462) and I read that the Athlon XP upto 2800+ will work in the Tyan. Thanks for any advice you can give me. I can't afford a new PC yet so I'm trying put one together from old parts.

  1. Ok. Tyan builds server-grade monsters, as evidanced by your two CPU slots. ASrock is a subdivision of Asustek, which focuses on and suceeds at delivering solid non-overclocking value boards. The 1900MP is pretty slow, so unless you have very symmetrical workloads, I'd suggest placing the 3200+ in the ASrock. Except for being singlecore, it's still fine for modern productivity needs.
