I need another treatment option for my anxiety and OCD?

I have severe anxiety and obsessive compulsive disorder, and it is making it very hard for me to function in my everyday life. Since I am a teenager, I'm at a point where it's dangerous to take medication like anti-depressants and anti-anxiety (since your brain changing so much), so my parents don't really want me on those kinds of drugs.

But I'm having a very hard time controlling my OCD and anxiety, so I really need an alternative solution that doesn't involve such strong medications.

I really need help, I've had my OCD since third grade and it has become extremely severe since I never told anyone until last year. And my anxiety is so extreme that I have done really weird things (like cutting my socks and other strange things) and it is disturbing to my whole family.

Thanks in advance to anyone that answers.

  1. there is no alternative therapy for

ocd .ocd is very hard to treat with out medication

    you must take medication

  2. Try cognitive behavioral therapy by a good psychologist. The anxiety is what's causing the OCD. You're trying to get everything "just right" as an outlet to the extreme anxiety you're suffering. Talk this out in detail with a psychologist; don't hold anything back. There is help out there if you stick to it and don't back down. Best wishes.

Wow, as for vatot7's answer: There are alternatives. If it's extremely, extremely severe, then medication really should be used. However, saying there aren't alternatives is saying that all of the psychologists who specialize in treating OCD are liars. I really don't understand why people discount therapy.
