I need authorization letter from a inmate for his boys to visit (California Prison) this is urgent???

The mother of the boys just past away a few days ago and the father is in prison (They really want to see their dad!!). Can I obtain a letter of permission from him although he is an inmate. They live with the grandmother but there is no formal "legal"guardianship papers prepared.

Whoever gets legal guardianship of these kids will have to sign for them to be able to visit their dad.

If he is in prison everyone has to pass a background check to be able to visit.  The only way you can get the paperwork to do the background check is straight from the inmate.  But otherwise you should be able to take the child.  My friend's mother brings his daughter and she doesn't have custody of her.
