So, I have the Canon PowerShot a530, and I am having some problems. I had a pair of batteries in it, and then the batteries died (the little red baterrie warning was flashing, but they still had some charge, but very little) (they were some obscere brand) and then, i got two BRAND NEW< NEVER USED energizer batteries and put them in THE CORRECT WAY, but the camera is completely un-responsive. when i put the old baterries back in, the camera turned on, but the baterries are like, almost dead. all of the baterries, both new and old, were alkaline baterries.

could someone please help me!

 1. You really need to try the Energizer Lithium batteries. They are about 8-10 dollars for 4 of them but they do last a long time in your camera. I have the Canon A540 and that is all that I use. I also worked in camera sales and so often people would want to buy a new camera because theirs was eating batteries. We would sell them the Energizers and they would say that the camera works great now. Alkaline batteries are just not powerful enough to run a digital camera, some don't even have enough power to turn one on. I only use the Lithium and i have great results.

 2. Rechargable batteries have to be charged before they work.

 3. Your new batteries are bad.
