Is your cat male? Getting males spayed can calm them down a lot.

If you are more specific about the problem, you will get more specific advice! At the moment all the answers will be making an assumption about what the problem actually is. What does your cat do to make you think he/she is a jerk? Perhaps it is something you do that s/he doesn't like and you haven't realised it yet? Maybe that is just his/her personality.

I agree that spraying a bottle of water at your cat will help it behave. you can also make a loud noise like hitting your slipper against the floor when it misbehaves, just don't let it see you when you do any of the above. you can also try having it checked, maybe it has an injury which could be the cause of its aggression.
