I need big help!!?

is there anyway to import my videos i recorded on a DCR-TRV740 Hi8 camra to my laptop. last time i called sony they told me to download this thing for windows xp a driver that doesn't work on vista. so can anyone give me any advice?

Normally, the drivers are bundled with the OS- XP or Vista.

DCR-TRV740, a digital 8 vcam may be iLink / FIREWIRE400**-connected to pc to upload video thru video capture or video editing* software while vcam is ON PLAYBACK.  Note: DV or Firewire port of vcam is 4pin. Before cable purchase** (Vcam/4pin=>firewireCABLE=>PC (4/ 6pin?), check pc for DV or firewire port, whether 4 or 6 pin. If none, install firewire card: pci for pc or pcmcia for laptop.
