Im about to box this on guy that is about 2 inch shorter then me. From my friends info they said hes the type of guy that waits for the right time then rushes the opponent then punches and doesnt stop punching he tries to push you back while punching also, well thats his strategy. So what should i do where should i hit? Should i take the first hit first or wait for him?

  1. He's smaller so it's better for you to take him down first.  Be sure that you land on top of him, he can't do much damage once you're on top.  Then throw as many punch as you can.  You'll win the fight and you'll be able to dominate him.  Just be sure that's it's only a one-on-one fight.  If you'll engage him in a stand-up fight, the problem is that he might be quicker and if he throws more punches than you do, it will look as if he has dominated you even if his punches are not solid or are not landing.

  2. If you have a significant reach advantage, use it to keep him at bay.

If he rushes you, make him pay.  Use a lot of lateral movements to make it difficult to hit you as he comes in.  If he is coming in and not hitting you, you should be able to jab him.  Once you have his attention you can throw a couple power punches.

If he gets inside and starts scoring, clench.  I know its not pretty to watch two fighters tangled up, but it is preferable to getting hit by a shorter boxer.

After the break, circle him.  It should annoy him as he wants to rush you.  Also fake him out a bit, get his hands up, and crack his ribs a time or two.  That will get him to drop his hands.  Any fighter who wants to come inside with his hands down is asking for it.

  3. throw the first punch, show him he cant bully you around, and when he rushes in move left to right, do not back up, pepper him with jabs, and throw a few uppercuts if gets inside on you, pressure fighters usually lead with there head but dont forget to dig to the body and after a round or so he will tire and not be able to throw as many punches

  4. Wait for the moment man! Be a tiger who waits for the kill!

  5. Mainly, this guy will focus on body blows.

But watch out....he may be a good uppercut artist if his arm reach is longer than yours, so if that man runs and lowers his fists on the runs, he may do an uppercut.

Even if the uppercuts are not knockout punches, it can hurt. Best to block the uppercuts if you can, and then do this combination......

Left jab, right hook, left cross, or.....

Right jab, left cross, right uppercut.

    Or.....

You may take his first punches then you can try to do either a left hook or right hook to ward him off.

You can also try to hug the man or grab the man a few seconds so that he will not do those illegal rabbit punches or low blows but of course, the referee will always make you break but this will slow his running offensive attacks.

    Hope this helps.....
