  1. for the first couple of days ur going to want to eat soft foods and then from there on you can eat pretty much anything but make sure to brush every night and its also a good idea to get a water pik or a similar machine instead of having to floss through every tooth hope this helps

  2. braces are not that bad. You could eat basically anything you want but during the first couple a days stay away from hard foods cause your mouth will hurt. Also your gums will swell over the time you have your braces but it will go down when you get them off. I had braces and  I liked them cause you could change the colors of your rubber bands.

  3. you should darken your hair, or lighten your eyebrows. Can you do invisalign? The clear braces or no? If not get pink bands!!!

  4. i have braces now..i have braces called sure smile and i am very happy with them. When i got them on they didnt hurt like  everyone told  me they would. i eat everything i did before. with they sure smile they only have to be on for like 15 months:)

  5. you can change your rubber bands to match whatever you want, and I ate all kids of foods when i had em. just stay away from mustard, it will stain the braces. and try to get clear braces, you will be VERY happy with the result, it will be over before you know it!

  6. I'm not sure that braces in general are considered 'stylish'. Mine are really thin, though (or so people tell me) so they're OK. Mine aren't the colorful ones and they're fine. I actually prefer them.

I've had braces for a year and 2 months. You get used to them after not even a week. At least I did. I didn't even feel them anymore. When I got mine they only put ones on the top and waited until the next appointment for the bottom ones.

I can tell you this: getting them put on isn't painful (but BORING!) but the day after... you're in for it. (although my friend's didn't hurt after she got them put on, so who knows?) The braces are pulling your teeth into place, so your mouth will be sore.

It depends on how much they tighten the braces, but I'd say it hurts for at LEAST 48 hours after getting them put on. I think it hurt me 3 days or something like that.

You won't be able to chew hard things like chips, apples, carrots, etc. and you'll have a really tough time tearing at, say, a hamburger or a piece of meat for a few days. The day after they put them on it would hurt to just touch my teeth together.

BUT once those 3 days were over I could gingerly bite into things and not even a week afterwards I was eating like before I had them put on.

Personally I think that you'll look fine with braces. AND you're around the age that many people are getting them put on. I got mine on in June of 2007, and NOW everyone decides to get them! =] (I'm 13 btw)

If you're anything like me, complaining about the pain to yourself helps a ton! heh heh..

    good luck!

EDIT: when I got them on the dentist told me I couldn't eat carrots, apples, popcorn, gum, etc. but I do it anyway and I'm fine. =] Just don't eat mints. I crunched into one and one of the brackets feel off! lol
