There are also chambres d'hotes et gites en France. It's a guide for a nice stay in a characteristic house (sometimes a chateau or a mansion - whatever you are looking for, but always affordable) anywhere in France. You can find this book in a book store. I treasure some very nice memories of such stays. Highly recommended.
