I need cheap auto insurance?

Question

I am 18, just got my license, and looking to get a car.

i found a nice jeep grand cherokee for a decent price so now i just need insurance.

would it be better to get new insurance for myself or to be added to my parents coverage with geico?

If i should get a new plan for myself, what company will give me a good price?

Well, your insurance is always going to be cheaper if you are on your parents policy. Since you are pretty young and just got your license, most insurance companies will see you as a high risk driver, and your rates are going to be pretty high.  If you are on your parents policy, you have more of a chance of getting affordable insurance rates.

I would call Geico and see how much they would charge you to add you to your parent's policy.  If you are still interested in seeing how much rates would be if you are on a policy by yourself, I would recommend getting a few quotes online. The site below is really good because it allows you to compare multiple quotes for free.  It definitely helped me find the cheapest rate when I was shopping for insurance.

There is no one "best" or "cheapest" carrier. You'll have to call around, give your social security number to have a credit check, give them the vehicle information, and get a bunch of quotes to figure out which carrier is cheapest FOR YOU

its gonna be cheapier to go onto your parents coverage. what ever you do, stay away from esurance!

Check this site out http://www.ez-insurancesearch.com they have some great info and give you quotes from some of the top providers in your area. Also, it may or may not be cheaper with your parents. If you plan on moving out getting it for yourself would probably be easier than  being added to your parent's coverage.
