I need college funds?

I keep asking this question, and it never gets answered correctly. I am 47 and need to go back to school. Our jobs here are -zero-. My credit score is in the 100's. My debts are high due to no job. I keep applying and keep getting turned down. How do all these illegals and drop outs get help. Up until all the jobs leaving my area and going over seas I could pay my debts and work. Now, I am unemployeed and can not get any aid to help me go to a community college. This is my question. Fannie May will not help because I have no one to sign with me and I have no credit. HELP,PLEASE!

you should contact the college financial aid office . they can help you to find ways to get money for college classes.  I teach English to immigrants...some are illegal, but most are not.  The ones who go on to college get scholarships for their awesome grades. The ones who are illegal who get financial help go to great colleges because of their grades and they are given money directly from the college.  by the way, those illegals are trying to become legal...and came here for  a better life.

I don't know what you want for an answer, because I suspect that all you're looking for is someone who will agree with you that your life is ruined because "those" people have come and taken away all your jobs and destroyed your opportunities, and caused you to get into really bad debt.

I think you're looking for that answer, and I think you're also waiting for someone who will respond and tell you "Call this miracle organization, because they understand exactly what happened to you, and they're with you against all these foreigner-types, and they're going to give you thousands and thousands of dollars to help you get out of debt."

I'm guessing that you must be looking for work as a hotel maid, or a lawn maintenance guy, or a migrant worker, or a warehouse picker, or something, because that's the kind of work that all these "illegals" that you're talking about mostly do. I guess that's why you're having a hard time finding a job, because they're stealing those minimum-wage opportunities right out from under you.

I can completely see the logic that if the aliens went away, then you'd be able to pay back all of that bad debt that you've run up - you know - the debt that drove your credit score down to the 100s. I bet every time you went to the post office to mail those credit card payments, you had to push and shove to make it to the counter before closing time, what with all those illegal workers trying to buy their money orders so they could send something home to all the relatives in their real countries. I wouldn't blame you for just walking out and not paying those credit card bills at all. Why should you have to wait in line for that? Am I right?

Just right here, I had a list of the secret lenders that make loans to people who haven't paid back the money they've borrowed in the past. I only wish I could find it.

How about this - instead of looking for a community college that will accept you, despite your not actually having any money to pay the tuition, why not contact your state's Job Center, for information about the training options that are available to you. I mean, after all, those community colleges are probably filled with all of those immigrant people, too. You know how the federal government just loves to give them free money so they can get better jobs.

I don't know where you're from - here's an example of the state Job Center in Wisconsin: http://www.wisconsinjobcenter.org/ They have information about the Federal Workforce Investment Act, Dislocated Worker Programs, Apprenticeships, all kinds of programs to help people who need to find a new, more employable line of work. If you hurry, you can probably get there before the illegals, because they probably can't afford computers yet, what with those minimum wage jobs. Look for the Job Training program in your state.

One piece of advice - don't keep applying for loans. You're too high a risk to qualify for a loan - you don't have the income to repay it, and your credit history says that you don't always pay back what you've borrowed. Both of these are essential to getting a loan.

I'd feel sorry for your situation if you weren't so bitter and driven to scapegoating "other people" for your problems. "Illegal" aliens have not ruined your life, though it's nice to have someone to blame, isn't it?

Try the job training programs.
