Question:

I need confirmation that this salad is not harmful to my bearded dragon?

It is simply Mixed Vegetables, distributed by Goya Food. It contains Carrots, Corn, Green Beans, Peas, Lima Beans and salt. I want to make sure I can use this as a substitute for his salad. I can remove any veggies if necessary. Also, should I dust it with Calcium or Vitamin dust like I do crickets? Finally, I would like to know what (if any) harm it is to microwave his veggies. I will keep them in the refrigerator for now, to keep them thawed, but my beardie doesn't seem to care for any salad I've offered so far. So I'm trying something with more moisture. I just want to know if miking the veggies is okay in case he doesn't like these cold and may prefer it warm. I'm still shifting his diet around trying to find what he likes best.

  1. That is definitely not good for beardies.  Better choices are dark leafy greens such as mustard, collard, or turnip greens and add some fresh green beans, squash, and alfalfa pellets.  Do not put vitamins on the salad, only on the insects.  See this site for complete diet advice:

  2. FRESH leafy greens NO salt. Go to the produce department.

  3. frozen veggies are not very good for beardies because they loose their nutrients and the salt / preservatives are not good for them either.  if you are having trouble getting him to eat greens, try taking him out in the sun and watch his reaction to the grass and dandy-lions as they move in the breeze, my bearding doesn't like very many of the greens from the store either...but she loves fresh grass, dandy-lions and clover(the kind with the little white flowers) and as long as you know that the grass and such doesn't have any pesticides or chemicals on it, then there is no harm in letting him graze for himself.
