one of the coolest way to make a room awesome, is to add cool pictures or paintings on the wall. I'm an interior designer, and the easiest and cheapest way is paint. Do bold stripes in 2 or more colors.

If its a rental or you can't paint, Ikea and Target have fun peel & stick wall murals, like huge flowers or exaggerated patterns.

mix and match bright colored bedding, or get a few differnt colored floor or throw pillows.

Find a theme and 2-3 colors and go big and bold, too many colors and dozens of little knick-knacks just make it busy and cluttered.
