I need creativity here please!?

Question

OK, I am doing a GS vet camp in a couple weeks. I am doing a mock surgery. I have it all set up except a few small details. One of which is trying to find a suitable bone-look-alike. We are going to have stuffed animals they are practicing on and I know HOW I am going to have it set up, but I need something like bone to put in the animals leg.

I was thinking chicken bone at first, but when you break them don't they splinter? I need a nice clean break. Any Suggestions?

Fasten the bone in a C-clamp and cut it with a utility knife or hacksaw
