I need decoration ideas for my lesson area. The theme is

the inside of a rocket ship. I already have the children

entering a 'rocket ship' (rocket made out of cardboard and

they have to crawl through the opening). Then when they are

in the lesson area 'inside of the rocket ship.' I also have

a big fabric like mural of outer space to make it look like

the window in the ship looking out at space. Then all the

chairs are in rows like they are in a rocket. What other

things can I hang on the ceiling or walls to make it look

like the inside of a rocket ship.

  1. You can buy silver, blue, and black balloons and hang them on the ceiling.

You could get glow in the dark stars and put them all over the room.

You also can buy tons of tin-foil and paste it on the wall to make it look like a metallic space ship.

You could dim the lights, and get a disco ball.

Have fun! You sound like a really fun teacher!

  2. well, you know in space there are nude girls.

put some posters of that up, it will kepp the whole class room happy and excited.

    lmao

  3. I found some cool fabric.  It's shiny and black with silver metallic stars printed all over it.  It was on the $1/yd rack at Wal-Mart.  That would be cool to hand from the "ceiling".

  4. I am not too good at decorating my room, but your ideas sound great.  The only thing is that you need to make sure of fire code violations in your state/district.  For example, at my school we are not allowed to hang things from the ceiling.  I hope I did not burst your bubble, but I would hate for you to do all that work for nothing.  Good Luck!!

  5. You can print out pictures of each child's face and decorate a bulletin board placing the photos inside a space helmet cutout (so it looks like they are wearing a helmet!).

Glow in the dark stars and planets stickers are a must!

You can buy garland that looks like a curtain of silver strings at a party store. That would be cool to hang on the walls or wrap around a table or two like a skirt.

It may be hard to find now, but they make silver foil wrapping paper that people often use to wrap their front doors at christmas time. That would look cool on any flat surface-make it appear as if made of metal.

  6. I don't know what grade you teach, but the cardboard rocket ship will probably be torn or crushed within the first week of school.

Anyway, I would think about it the way a kid would.  What's in a rocket ship?  Lots and lots of pretty, colorful buttons!  I would use construction paper to make multicolored square buttons.  It's cheap, and if they don't ruin the rocket, it'll look very nice for parent/teacher nights.

  7. It would be great to put "buttons" on the walls that would be like a control panel of the inside of the ship.  Different kinds of gauges would be fun too!

    Good Luck

  8. Pictures of Planets from our Solar System with fun facts

Glow in the dark stars for quiet time/lights off

Pictures of what the moon or mars looks like

Map of US with stars on the states where NASA can land on extra long runways

Pics of NASA, older to modern pics of our space equipment

What to go to school for so you can be involved in Rockets, experiments in space, etc

Pics of everyone who has been to space and what they specialized in

SPACE CAMP, google it and get ideas for more decorating

Constellations and info- how far away and how long to travel to

Take one of the pics or space or a rocket and cut it up into a puzzle for the kids

    Try freeze dried icecream...

  9. hand planet from the celing and instead of chairs all lined up kids(younger kids) like to be in a tables, so you cold put them in tables and name the tables after the plnets and galaxys

also, kids LOVE to get treats so for treats you can get milky ways or things that are shaped like planets

put stars all around the room

    hope this helps!!!

i wish you were my teacher when i was growing up!!!!
