If you don't have a car, there are trains from Bologna to the Porto San Giorgio - Fermo station that take around 3 hours. An intercity train costs 24.50 euro for a 2nd class ticket. You could also take a train to Ancona and transfer to a regional train to Porto San Giorgio. The total travel time is about the same if you take a Eurostar or intercity to Ancona or a half hour longer with a regional train to Ancona. Cost: 12.90 euro (2 regional trains), 27.25 euro (Eurostar + regional)
