  1. First, speak to an accredited consumer credit counseling agency.  Go to www.nfcc.org to find a location near you call 1-800-388-2227.  There is no charge, and they will give you unbiased advice.

The advice to apply for unemployment benefits is good.  If you qualify that will help you financially while you look for another job.

If you need to protect your home from foreclosure, and you're determined to stay in your home and try to get caught up, then you might consider a Chapter 13 bankruptcy.

If you cannot possibly get caught up, and you need to have a fresh start, you might qualify for a Chapter 7 bankruptcy (complete discharge of debts).

  2. When did you lose your job?  If you lost it not of your own fault (getting fired, laid off etc) you can get unemployment, you can look up the office nearest you on the internet.  Search for unemployment in "your town, state"

If you quit or lost it of your own fault than look for another job.  Look for anything that will give you a paycheck (better than nothing).

The lesson in this experience, have money saved up in case of emergencies (3-6months of wages).  Don't overextend yourself by spending less than you make.

Don't expect people on this forum to send you money if that is what you are looking for.

  3. Through Centraide you could probably get referrals to the proper aid agencies in your area. First of though, when you lose your job you have to be more careful with your finances. Obvious maybe but you have to cut your spendings. Down to survival rates. And get back on your feet. Sometimes Temporary Work agencies are an excellent starting point ( the're always advertising in local newspapers). Good luck.

  4. You can try to see a credit counsellor.  What they would normally do is negotiate with your creditors.  You can also do it by yourself.  You can write a letter telling them your situation and ask for some extension in the due dates.  Why dont you go to Department of Revenue in your state and see if your qualify for unemployement benefits.  Ask your previous employer about this too.
