I'm not a fat person, i've got slim legs and a slim face, except my stomach...it's a little chubby... i'd really like to shift the bulge on my tummy, because i'm only chubby on that part!

I've heard about doing sit-ups, but not sure how many i should do a day, and how long it will be 'til i start seeing some results...

plz help!

  1. Are you drinking sodas and eating junk food? If you are not eating healthy - with lots of fruits and vegetables, you will never have a flat stomach. Eat right, do some cardio - at least a half hour every day of something, even walking is great. Lift some weights (you won't bulk up) and do some crunches and bicycles.

Just because you are "skinny" or "slim" doesn't necessarily mean you are in good shape. Many movie stars and "normal-looking" people are what is known as Skinny-Fat, which means they look slim, but are actually not in good shape and have a high percentage of body fat.

  2. Sit ups won't get rid of the fat, it'll just tone your abs under that layer of fat. Though sit ups do burn some calories, its not enough alone to burn the fat off. You'll have to start doing some cardio such as running, jogging, swimming, etc. If you havn't done so already, adjust your diet. If you don't, you wont see any results. Stay below your maintenance level for calories, avoid sugars and sodas, eat 5-6 smaller meals instead of 3 big ones, and try to add protein with each meal. If you crave something sweet, eat fruits instead. I'm not sure what you're body fat % is, but you could see some results in say 3 weeks if you stick to it.

  3. Sit ups alone wont work, best way is to ensure you do at least 1 hour of exercise every day.... this could be skipping, running, brisk walking, swimming, cross trainer at the gym etc.. drink plenty of fluids, eat well and the bulge will fall off...also see if you can get a free-weight programme... try going on you tube and there are loads of video's on there that show you routines you can do with free weights to shift it!

  4. yep sit-ups really work

  5. go join a pilates class, but do some cardio before the class...limit your refined sugar and bad fat intake to the maximum too

  6. NO! DON'T DO SIT UPS!!!!! they only gain MUSCLE. you need to lose FAT! sit ups will do nothing but gain muscle UNDER the fat and make your back hurt. Do cardio exercises such as a brisk walk or jog and jumping jacks.

  7. A lot of people have this problem but there is only one solution.Cut down the carbs. All those white bread and pasta that you have eaten has something to do with it and also to add, the late night snacking which you probably do will all go down in your gut and just stay there. If you need a flat tummy it's pretty simple just stop having all that nasty white bread and eating like an hour before you go to bed because when you do sleep your body slows down and it's not burning as much sugar, carbs, and calories as it should and if you continue to do it,well you have a flabby tummy.

  8. Mine goes lovely and flat when I lay on it ;]

Try Pilates as it helps you gain control over your core muscles.  Especially good for a women and a lot less harmful or strenuous than sit ups.

You could even combine the two.

  9. DONT DO SIT UPS !! just dont do sit ups u will regret it .. u will not loose fat from doin them... u should ride a bycicle....... cardio exersises work too.. like carrying stuff walkin up steps.. and stuff... and instead of using an elevator use the steps.. and i heard .. that if you skip a step when you use the steps...  it will help a lot.. and you should also.. eat right.. lots of salad.. fruits.. vegies.. ect...

    hope this helps! =]

the best of luck to you!

  10. Well sit ups by themselves aren't brilliant..you need to combine it with exercise like jogging, swimming, running, cycling...anything. then do your sit ups/crunches after the workout. Don't expect instant results....you'll get what you want, it just takes time. Also, watch your food. Try and avoid high-fat food, fried stuff....and overeating. eat in moderation and you'll reduce that tummy bulge! (and drink lots of water!) good luck.
