To use for the letter of intent to home school legally. I just need some ideas as to what to put on this letter. Most of it will be used, just not sure as to what kinds I can use. Can you give samples of your notice to home school, and what you put for each subject?

  1. Here are some sample letters.  You will have to see if they contain all of the information your state requires.

Below is some information on affordable homeschooling.

  2. Even if you just go to your state education website and get the state standards and show that you are teaching these, that should be enough. Not all public and private schools have a purchased curriculum.

  3. Depending on the State you live in, you may or may not have to 'declare' what curriculum you are going to use.

I know that in Virginia you have to give a 'basic' idea (list of books, videos, etc), along with a copy of your High School Diploma Unless you claim Religion in which case you don't have to give them squat.

Penn. will require you to follow a set curriculm that meets THEIR State Standards.

Go to www.hslda.org to find out what YOUR State requires.

As for the FREE, check out www.oldfashionededucation.com.

Ms. Maggie has Free Curriculum and lesson plans listed by grade (she has your entire school year mapped out for you and all you have to do is get the stuff).**** Warning**** if you DON'T want a curriculum that has some Bible base ( you can work around that if you really want), you may not want to use her 'ideas'  or 'plans'.

    Wish I could help more.

  4. Just so you know that in educationese, "curriculum" doesn't mean purchased materials or resources used. It's the learning outcomes, the educational goals desired.

  5. In my state (Nebraska), if we use a major curriculum series, we don't have to list what we use for each individual subject, just list the curriculum name.

I didn't have a complete set of any one curriculum though - just some stuff that had been given to me. I have some Tapestry of Grace, which covers Language Arts and History, Abeka for Math, and since I didn't have a set curriculum for Science, I wrote that we were using the library and internet as a resource for those subjects. But Nebraska has pretty easy laws, and they don't normally do any follow up as long as the paperwork is filed on time and is complete.
