  1. have sales, and maybe ask the parents and helpers of sunday school if they could maybe get the supplies that is what we do.

  2. why don't you have a quick bake sale (or garage sale) asking the congregation to pony up the sale items?  Or just put an ad in the paper asking for those donations?  The paper shouldn't charge since a nonprofit is asking for the ad.  People want to help but don't always think to ask how they can help proactively.

  3. Dollar Store

    Oriental Trading

    Discount School Supply

  4. office depot

  5. You can try a Dollar Tree, Family Dollar, or this web site http://www.sparklebox.co.uk/index.html.

i have a list of alot more web sites if you would like them

  6. Try goodwill and dollar stores, or have a bake sale/trade for supplies.

  7. Check on yahoo groups and see if you have a group in your area called Freecycle or Cheapcycle or any recycling group in your area.   You can post a message on there requesting the things you need and hopefully someone will come through.  Also, consider contacting some bigger churches in your area and see if they'd be willing to help out with some of that stuff.  They probably have some old books and visual aid and things sitting around gathering dust.  God Bless!

  8. I have volumes 1-10 of Bible Stories that came from my church.  They are very good.  I would give them to you if you tell me where to send them.  grodavvel@yahoo.com

  9. I know of one church that use supplies that another church has used, and handed down.  Of course that wouldn't work for you colored paper supplies.

  10. When we lived in TX, we attended a large church.  The children's ministry always passed their stuff along to smaller churches so that it could still be used.

Another thought is to check Craig's list...it's like an ebay but not as regulated.  Lots of stuff on there for sale and free.

Do you have a local Christian book store?  Sometimes they have samples and stuff they can pass along or even the connections to get you to the right place.

You may also contact a local homeschool group and see if there are any used curriculum sales going on which you could attend.  Many school districts also have "out-of-adoption" sales where they are wanting to get rid of stuff cheap but usually this is not religious in nature.

  11. If you have a Big lots Or Value City ... They have really cheap school supplies.

  12. Contact the local school board and see if they have any old items that you could reuse. Petition the church goers to see if they have any art supplies or anything that would be useful for your Sunday school. If you're artistic (or know someone who it), you can draw up study pages and visual aids. I'm sure you can find resources online to help with those as well. <>http://www.sundayschoolhelp.com/wresmain... This site has many resources available.

If you are in desperate need of some help, reach out to other local churches (richer ones). They may have old supplies you could use, or they might have ideas on how you can acquire what you might need at low or no cost.

  13. You could do do several things. Check out the Salvation army, the dollar store if you have one... Thats the best I can do Im sure there is a better answer but the dollar store normally could have some pretty decent stationary...crayons and paper for low low cost.. u could stock up real good for less than 15 bucks there.

  14. I find that many dollar stores have an "education" section now...and many carry religious education materials.  Check them out.  Wal-Mart often carries a decent selection of resources this time of year and not for too much cost either.  I know that Lakeshore Learning Catalog (www.lakeshorelearning.com) does a "contest" where you can put in activities and get a gift certificate if your activity is chosen.  I  believe that maybe Discount School Supply (www.discountschoolsupply) is starting the same thing..but I may be wrong on that.

Local companies can often donate colored paper especially if you can get in contact with a printing/paper company.  Many of the printing companies have machines that can not take a whole roll of paper so they have piles and piles of "extra" paper and they are willing to donate to schools and such.  Families will too if you let it be known you need it.  Have a "wish list" sent home or at least up in clear view and be sure to have the kids make a thank you card.

You can make your own felt board and pieces.  I often print off and laminate (you could contact paper) my felt board pieces and either hot glue felt on the back or add velcro.  If you make your own pieces often I would suggest you use a magnet board instead.  :-)  A lot easier to attach a piece of self stick magnet to the back.  Check your local library for teacher resource books focused on flannel and magnet boards.  The nice thing with magnet boards is you don't really need an actual one...you can use a metal pan or the side of a filing cabinent or they have that magentic paint out there now.  I enjoy my magnet-dry erase/flannel board combo from Discount School Supply... it's well worth the amount I paid for it.

  15. I would ask the congergation to make donations.  Lots of people have stuff laying at home; pencils, pens, some construction paper ect.  What ever you don't get from that, have some donate money. Or have the kids to a carwash, or a dog wash where people can bring in their dogs for a bath.  The kids would love that.
