  1. Let your kid make a "puppet". Get a Brown paper bag, glue, and a bunch of things she can glue to the paper bag, let her decorate it any way she wants. its easy and fun! I saw it on Jon and Kate plus 8!

  2. Have them draw pictures.

Also make air planes and stuff?

  3. make a bird feeder like you probably did when you were a kid. Find a pine cone and spread peanut butter on it, then roll it around in some seeds. You can go outside with it hang it somewhere and watch for birds. Its easy enough that a 4 year old can do all this himself. Let him(or her) find the pine cone, pick the spot to hang it, etc.

  4. Sock puppets! Mismatched socks and any odds and ends you can find! So much fun!

  5. drawing, maccaroni art, finger painting?

  6. This may be a little too difficult for a four year old, but I loved this :)

You will need an iron, wax paper, scissors, and crayons (oh, and a sharpener too shave the crayons).

Begin by taking certain crayons of any color and shaving them. You need these shavings. Pick colors of any kind (see what the four year old wants).Get PLENTY of shavings!!! Lots and lots. Mix them in a cup or shake the cup up.

Next, take a piece of wax paper and pour the shavings on it. Spead them around evenly, covering any open spots. Take another piece of wax paper about the same size and cover the shavings (it would be a good idea to do this all on lots of newspaper!!!).

Take an iron, and carefully iron the wax paper. The crayon shavings will melt. Once you think you are finished with this process, let it dry for about ten or fifteen minutes.

Take a pen or pencil and create an image, such as a star, heart, etc. Using scissors, carefully cut the image out.

You can take a holepunch and create a hole, then hang string from it.

You know have a homemade "suncatcher" :)

  7. get piece a paper and cut stuff out and just have fun

  8. big lego peices make sure its not the small ones

    they might swallow it

  9. i have one but it is kinda messy. i was a sunday school teacher when we did this and the kids loved it! i took some knee highs, potting soil, grass seed, little dixie cups, a hot glue gun and some foam pieces, and pipe cleaners. i would first fill the bottom on the knee highs with some grass seed then potting soil then i tied the ends. now i had a potato looking creature. the kids would decorate the cups and pick out foam pieces for the faces. they would show me where to put the eyes nose and mouth and i would glue them on. then they would give them pipe cleaner arms, moustache, eyebrows, etc...... and when we were all done we set them in the cups and in a few days they have hair on their heads. the grass grows so fast that it is easy for a child to make his or her own hairy "mr potato head". they can even give them a hair cut!

  10. I have a 4 year old. I go to Wal-Mart and buy some foamy stickers and a foam visor hat in the crafts department. She loves creating her own hat. There are a few different foam items there to choose from. And it you don't mind a mess then let him/her paint a little wooden birdhouse. That keeps 'em busy for a while.

  11. An ultimate favorite:  Get a box top (or shallow box) that is big enough to put a piece of construction paper in.  Put the paper in the box lid.  Put a few small small puddles of different color paints on the paper and use a marble or two in the box on top of the paint & paper.  Let the child tilt the box back and forth to move the marbles all through the paint - the paper will have all kinds of great designs!  Obviously let the paper dry - but then you can do all kinds of stuff with it, make it into a mobile, cut up and let him/her make a mosaic on another sheet of paper with glue, etc.  Or sometimes they just want to roll the marbles around in the paint 1,000 times because they think it's the coolest thing ever - Let them!  You can make a collage later or other fun things : )

Look up a recipe for homemade play-dough.

Buy a can of shaving cream, put some on a table, and let them make shapes & stuff in it.  So easy.

Make a mask out of construction paper/popsicle sticks/feathers/whatever is on hand!

Make a picture frame using 4 popsicle sticks glued together in a square.  Let him/her decorate it by gluing buttons all around it any way they want.

    Good luck!!

  12. how about some raw noodles and a piece of string, you can make a necklace!!! and color IT with markers. or maybe make a mask, of course don't let him use the siccors. (cant spell)

  13. I color, finger paint, and use Play-Doh with my nephew. He also likes helping with cooking. Stuff like decorating cookies and mixing the batter.
