We have grades K-5. We're having a movie day Sunday. We want the prize give away to be fun and exciting. We have about 60 kids.

  1. you could do Bible trivia.. and make up questions about the Bible..

  2. So this must be Sunday School or children church, right?

Give out incentive for real movie tickets, give out Sonic cards, or admission to other activities.

  3. Movie trivia!!! Ask questions about the movie you are showing. It will keep their attention during the movie in hopes of winning the prize. I would divide the questions by K-5 just to make it fair. Pick a grand prize for each grade. This is good fellowship and is a great time for children to learn that going to church can be fun.

  4. give a quiz which questions are related to the movie.

  5. I would put a sticker or card under one of the chairs...(stick on the bottom)

    Raffle tickets are good too!

You could also just have anyone that wants to come up and do a task- sing a song, tell a (clean) joke, share a story of happiness about a friend.... get a prize.

You could also give everyone a little prize and then have them "give it away" to someone they do not know.  Everyone in turn will get something.  (have extras just in case).  Tell the older kids to help out if they see that help is needed. This will encourage giving and helping.

That person/those people get a prize.

This of course is in addition to the trivia questions, I just wanted to give you another idea!

As far as the person that commented about why we should go to church ( no movies or prizes)...You are wrong.  We go to church to become closer to God and to each other.  Church and the church community should be positive and fun-and if that involves a movie and a prize GREAT.... the kids will have fun and think of church as a place they want to be.

Have fun with your movie!  Sound like fun!

  6. Call me old-fashioned, but I thought the purpose of church was to worship God, not to win door prizes and watch movies.

The children should be learning what it means to worship God and learning more about Him by studying Bible stories.

If you must give incentives, then do it with a purpose, as in relate the prizes to Bible trivia, Bible drill (who can find the verse the fastest), Scripture memorization, etc., so that the children are at least encouraged to learn something while they are there with some substance.

Children (and families) that attend church to be entertained will not commit to serve, and will church-hop as soon as the next one down the street throws a bigger party.
