  1. The actual name is "Cristo Redentor" (or Christ the Redeemer)

    Important:

at least 9 very dangerous curves:

    Km 1115, "Curva de Guido"

Km 1117/1120, "Sector de Túneles en Curvas"

Km 1136, "Curva de los Chilenos"

Km 1187, "Curva Tunel Nro 12 Polvaredas"

Km 1192, "Curva de la Mirian"

Km 1200, "Puente en Curva sobre el Río Mendoza"

    Km 1205, "Curva del Tiempo"

    Km 1224, "Curva del Yeso"

Km 1228/30, "Curva de la Soberanía Nacional"

also the tunnel will be open ONLY between 8 and 19:30 in winter (June/July/August)

  2. Go to www.google.com and download a program called Google earth. Not only can you get the directions you are looking for but you can check for other things, like terrain of where you're headed. Good luck.

  3. Try turistel.cl web site......

    Tab...mapas ruteras.

Have very good maps and info of Chile

Need to be able to read Spanish.

  4. The closest pass between Chile and Argentina to Santiago is "Paso de los Libertadores" which lead to Mendoza. From then on, just follow the signs to Buenos Aires.
