  1. I would consider recommending you Laurel K. Hamillton's "Anita Blake : Vampire Hunter" books, but they are *really* aimed at over 18's, and the series pretty much is ruined after book 9 {there are currently 16 books}.

    "The Sally Lockhart Quartet" by Philip Pulman

    The Ruby in the Smoke ; The Shadow in the North ;

    The Tiger in the Well ; The Tin Princess

    "The Bloody Chamber" by Angela Carter {short-stories}

    "The Wereling Trillogy" by Steve Cole

    "Jamaica Inn' by Daphne Du Maurier

    Tamora Pierce.

    She has written a lot of books, but her "Tortall" books are the best :)

    They cover a variety of subjects, but include mystery, magic, and some suspense.

    In chronological order :~

    "The Song of the Lioness Quartet"

    Alanna : The First Adventure ; In the Hand of the Goddess ;

    The Woman Who Rides Like A Man ; Lioness Rampant

    "The Imortalls Quartet"

    Wild Magic ; Wolf Speaker ; Emperor Mage ; The Realms of the Gods

    "Protector of the Small Quartet"

    First Test ; Page ; Squire ; Lady Knight

    "Trickster's" {two books}

    Trickster's Choice ; Trickster's Queen

    "Provost's Dog" {three books}

    Terrier ; Bloodhound {due in April 2009}

  2. STEPHEN KING IS ALWAYS A GOOD BET.

  3. I know these choices seem childish but they are great books by Mary Downing Hahn:

    Wait Till Helen Comes

    The Doll In The Garden

  4. Anything by Eric Wilson!

    personally i love the golden boy by him!

  5. Anything at all by Brian Lumley. But especially His Necroscope series. Psychic Spies Vs BADASS Extraterrestrial Vampires. Excellent stuff!

  6. Try Stephen King and Edager Allen Poe. They are awesome.

  7. the shining!

  8. No time for goodbye - Linwood Barclay

    That is a really good book, i read it in 5 hours. and about 30 chapters. Would reccommend it to anyone!! :)
