Question:

I need good recipes for Spam?

I love spam! There's no way it could have any real meat in it -- in fact, I really don't care what it's made of but I do love it. I eat at least 10 cans a week and I was wondering if it can be grilled or deep fried? Any suggestions?

  1. This question is misplaced.

Spam is not Vegetarian, not Vegan

  2. I always fry it in a skillet then put in on bread with mayo and tomato slices.  It's an awesome sandwich.

  3. http://www.spamto.com/

  4. I like to chunk it up and put it in Mac and cheese.

  5. Read the label! It's meat, and not the best meat either.

  6. slice it thin and fry it crisp. spam n cheese sammitches!

  7. BAKED SPAM

    1 can Spam

    SAUCE:

    1/3 c. light brown sugar

    1 tsp. prepared mustard

    1/2 tsp. vinegar

    1 tsp. water

    1/2 tsp. ground cloves

Place Spam in shallow pan. Score top. Clove surface. Bake at 350 degrees F. for 10 minutes. Pour sauce over loaf and bake another 15 minutes, basting every 5 minutes.

Double the amount of sauce ingredients for ham.

This was a war-time (WW II) when meat was scarce. However, it was not popular with returning Gi's.

    or try this recipie.....

    BAKED SPAM

    2 cans Spam

    1 c. brown sugar

    1 c. pineapple juice

Mix 2 tablespoons of pineapple juice with 1 cup brown sugar together to make a paste.

Pat mixture into Spam and stud with cloves.

Place in a baking pan and baste with remaining pineapple juice.

Bake about 1/2 to 1 hour at 350 degrees. Continue to baste. Remove from oven. Let cool, then slice.

or this last one i have for you...

    SPAM FRIED RICE

(or what to do with leftover rice)

If you're into cooking your SPAM, this one is for you.

    4 cups leftover rice

    1 1/2 cup SPAM, diced

    1 egg

    1 TBS. Shoyu (soy sauce)

    3 stalks green onion, chopped

Fry SPAM in a small quantity of oil in skillet.

Lower heat and add rice.   Mix egg and soy sauce and add to skillet.  Stir everything around just like they do in Chinese restaurants.  Just before serving add green onions.

  8. Considering there is so much fat in Spam and not much else I would suggest grilling it.  I dont think you should be consuming 10 cans a week, it cannot be very good for your health. Not suitable for vegetarians or vegans.

    Ingredients:

Chopped pork shoulder meat with ham meat added.

Salt (for binding, flavour, and firmness)

    Water (to help in mixing)

    Sugar (for flavour)

Sodium Nitrite (for colour and as a preservative)

    Yum yum!
