  1. most "green" stocks do not pay much of a dividend if any at all because they are emerging companies for the most part.  Green is a rather recent fad.  Of course it might depend on ones definition of green.  I do know some green stocks under $40 a share but they do not pay dividends and may not for some time to come.

TSL a solar energy company $30.80

STP solar energy also.  It was under $40 before today.  Up $3 today.

GCTAF wind turbines. About $43 a share.  Traded on pink sheets.

Many consider biofuels as green energy.  Personally, I think that is stretching the definition just a tad, because the energy input exceeds the energy output.  But if you are agreeable with that definition you might consider ADM.  $25.50 a share and it does pay a dividend.  Also another among that group ANDE at $45 also with a dividend but not so much that you will ever get rich off of it.  But ANDE is an unusual company.  Sort of a conglomerate but with an excellent track record.

Now these are not considered green but they are certainly more green that about 95% of companies out there.  They are the railroads.

Unfortunately, they are all more than $40 a share.  NSC, UNP, BNI, CSX.  They each pay a dividend.

  2. I recently purchased 2 Canadian natural gas exploration reits. One is less then 20$ and the other is < 30$ per share. They pay a dividend of approx. 15%. The dividend is higher as the price of the stock is lower. I am not concerned right now about the stock price as I use the dividend for income. The stocks pay out monthly which is nice for me. The stocks are PGH and PWE.
