I need hair and nail help?

My hair used to grow like wild fire until a few months ago. It slowed and I'm freaking out over here! I had really bad split ends in Feb. and March and my hair was shedding like the dickens, but I could feel new-growth on my head and I knew it was growing. Then, when I had to get a haircut it was so bad, I feel like my hair isn't growing very much. It's grown only 3 inches in 5 months. My relaxers are spread further apart at 2 months when I had new growth 3 weeks after getting a relaxer. I used to have "long" hair that came down to my back (that's long for a lot of black kids I know.) Then, like I said, I got it cut and parts have stayed practically the same length and it's so frustrating. I lose few hairs a day only while I'm combing my wrap down or putting it up (nothing really). And I wash it once a week and practically everytime I use Olive Oil hair products to condition it for an hour while I'm watching Psych or something. But, when my hair was long, I washed it every two weeks and it was always up in a ponytail. Not the fake ones. But, lately, my hair's been itching so bad I can't make due with once a week. I plan on buying some actual olive oil and giving it a try to see if that will help. But, not that I think about it, I rarely ever flat ironed my hair. But I only do it once a week now. I don't even blow dry my hair anymore.

And my nails always grew slowly, esp. my thumbs, but those too, seem to have slowed.

Help? Forgive me for being shallow, but we all know how important hair is to teens. (I'm 16) And this is really annoying the h**l out of me! Rapunzel doesn't know how good she had it! But she still complained! ;-)

  1. Split Ends Treatment

    What You Need:

        * 1 teaspoon honey

        * 2 tablespoons coconut oil

        * 1 egg yolk

    What To Do:

    Beat all ingredients together and apply to hair ends. Leave on for 30 minutes. Rinse and shampoo.

    Why It Works:

    Coconut oil has traditionally been known to be very good for skin and hair. It provides a protective layer and locks in the hair's natural moisture. The honey will draw moisture to the hair and the egg yolk has many natural ingredients (vitamins A, D, E, B12, folic acid, and Lecithin) which make the hair more healthy.
