Hi. I have been sick for the past 3 days.

At first, my stomach started getting these weird cramps that would come really quick and go away really quick, but they hurt. I didnt think much of it, but then I realized that I wasnt digesting my food. I just couldnt go. Today, I finally was able to, and it was really nasty bloody diarrhea. (sorry, i know thats really gross). I dont know whats going on. I googled it, and that says it could be the stomach flu.

My question is: if you have the stomach flu, do you always throw up, or are there cases in which you just diarrhea?

Please help, and if you think it could be something else, let me know.

Thank you!

  1. Anytime you have blood in your stool, you should see a doctor.  You could have Shigella or E.Coli which both can be treated with antibiotics.

Also to answer your question: No, you do not always throw up when you have a stomach flu (which could have many causes).

  2. I don't know but have a real similar story that until this point I pretty much kept to myself.  Felt like puking, but could not go either, and it was the worste pain I ever experienced and I mean I've put myself through tremendous pain as a wrestler, and fighter...  What I did learn from the situation, is if you put about a teaspoon and a half of Epsom salt in a cup of OJ, and tilt it taking a mouthful like a shot each time, it will get that stuff out in like 20 minutes, but don't go far for the next six hours...  Most Definitely see a Doctor if blood is major and or continues.

  3. The intestinal flu can be different for every one.  It has hit us here where I work, and each one of has had different symptoms.  Some had vomiting, some did not.  Most of had the diarrhea, and some had severe stomach pains, but some did not....
