  1. lol, if you give me about an hour yes.

this doesnt have an analysis that i remember, but it got a really good grade, so hopefully it will help. The thesis statement is in parentheses. The thesis statement is the main idea for your essay, and should state what you are going to talk about...this is an okay example but could be better.

(In the poems “The Road Not Taken,” and “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening,” there are many interesting points to consider.) These poems appeal to many people, and most readers don’t even see the full meaning of them. In these two poems, Robert Frost used figurative language, structure, and theme to convey a greater message beyond what is on paper.

Figurative language is used several times in the two poems. In the poem “The Road Not Taken,” it puts a mental picture into the mind of the reader. You could tell that one was less traveled due to the line “…was grassy and wanted wear…” This gives the image that the path was less worn, which meant there were less people that traveled down it. Then, in the poem “Stopping by a Woods on a Snowy Evening,” figurative language is also used to great extent. For example the fourth line, which says “...to watch his woods fill up with snow” gives the idea that he will be staying in the area for a length of time, as it takes time for woods to fill up with snow. Also, his use of snow, a frozen lake, and “…the darkest evening of the year…” suggest that it is winter time.

Also used to make the poems more enjoyable, and flow more, Robert Frost uses many examples of structure. In the poem “The Road Not Taken,” he uses a constant rhyming pattern which is ABAAB. This makes the poem easier to read, and keeps your attention, without most readers even aware of this detail. Also, he uses a specific number of syllables per line, which you could notice is nine, with the exception of a few lines, which have eight, nine, or ten. In the poem “Stopping by a Woods on a Snowy Evening,” structure is used in the same way. Like the first poem, this one also has a specific rhyming pattern. The rhyme scheme in this poem is AABA. Like the first poem, this one has a certain number of syllables also. If you take the time to notice, you will see that there are eight syllables in each line. The poems are similar in some other ways. They both have four stanzas for example, which may give us a clue to Robert Frost’s writing style. They both have rhythm, which whether or not you notice it, makes the poem easier to read.

Both of these poems having meaning beyond what they say. Where as most people take what they read as literal, these poems where meant to be taken beyond the words. In the poem “The Road Not Taken,” there is great meaning and a deep theme to it. It doesn’t just mean that he was walking through woods, and saw a split. The poem goes much deeper than the words that you read. Frost uses this as a symbol for the decisions in life. He is showing that any decision we make can make a huge difference in our life. He shows us this by the last line, “…And that has made all the difference.” The narrator took the path that many people chose not to take, which shows that you shouldn’t always just follow the crowd, but that you should go your own way. Making your own decisions and not just following peoples lead, can improve your life.

This is different with the second poem, “Stopping by a Woods on a Snowy Evening.” In this poem, it is showing that a guy is stopping by woods while it is snowy. Yet, the poem is once again about more than what it says. In the last three lines he says “…But I have promises to keep, And miles to go before I sleep, And miles to go before I sleep.” This is not just showing that he is tired and wants to stop, it is showing that you must keep going if you have a goal, and somebody is counting on you. It is saying that sometimes you have big responsibilities, and you want to stop, but you can’t just stop if you have promises.

Both of these poems share the nature aspect, but they share more. This is the fact that not everything is literal, but that sometimes you have to look beyond the words, and look at your meaning. People can interpret these poems in many different ways. This is what Robert Frost intended. He had intended for you to make your own ideas. He had his own view, but you also should have your own.

He used many aspects of literature to make the poems more enjoyable, but he did not set a concrete idea of what the poem, and it is my belief that he did this on purpose. As I said before, he used aspects of literature like theme, structure, and figurative language to keep your attention and for your enjoyment. With all of these aspects, he has made these some of the best known poems, and made them to where you think and come up with your own ideas.
