I need help Can chickens fly?

me and my friend have been arguing for months about whether or not chickens can fly!!!! Can someone help me please

chickens i think do midflight..you know jump move their wings and then come back to the ground!!!

No they cant really.  And why not?  The answer is white meat.  Chicken breast is made up of fast twitch glycolytic fibers which rely on anaerobic ATP production.  Because this energy production is inefficient, Chicken muscle can't maintain the stamina necessary to fly.  Next time you have roast duck, note that the breast meat is red indicating that it is anaerobic muscle

Have you ever seen a chicken fly? They can flap their wings and fly slight distances, like onto the top of a chicken coop maybe, but no they don't technically fly. They run or walk.

not for any real distance Its kind of like a big flappy jump  they dont go to far it seems

chickens are now domesticated, for the most part they cannoy fly except for short distences,raised on a farm a neighbor and i had a bet as to how far a chicken could be trained to fly, we started with baby chicks and carefully controlled there weight, i fed my checken only natural things grass hoppers. crickets nuts berrirs etc. i would tape the feet to a t shaped rod and move it up and down. the chicken being off balance would flap its wings to stay balanced. by the time my chicken had full feathers he would fly around with the ducks we had, this did not last very long once loose she fattened up and could not fly much

They can fly but only for very short distances.  They also can not get very far off the ground.  Ostriches on the other hand can not fly at all.

I think first you have to define "flying"  :-)
