i have no idea how to do this math homework. the teacher explained it to us poorly, but i thought i shouldnt right it down cuz i could remember it, but to be honest! i compleltey forgot!

i would type down how the chart looks like but stupid yahoo answers messes it up.i just want to know what the expression to find the rule for a pattern is, when like...hmmm, how do i explain this?

okay,

here are the terms. (n)

0/1/2/3/4/n/9

and here are the values (y)

blank/6/36/216/blank/blank/blank

i want to know how you write the coefficent in an equation when the delta y is X6

i hope i explained it okay

  1. Okay I have no idea what a coefficient is...but I think I figured out the blanks for the values of y....

    1/6/36/216/1296/7776/46656

    you said the delta y is X6....

    1X6=6

    6X6=36

    36X6=216

    216X6=1296

    1296X6=7776

    7776X6=46656

    the X multiplied by Y will give you N....you see? and the way I got the 1, the first blank, I reversed it...you use the delta y and the number you have to get the next blank...but I'm only in 8th grade and I stumbled onto this question by chance...so forgive me if I'm wrong....

    I don't understand the n one...you probably need more info or some type of formula to do that

  2. if you are changing y by multiplying by 6 repeatedly, then the repeated multiplication turns into an exponent (that's what an exponent is...repeated multiplication).

    so repeatedly multiplying by six would be an exponent with the base of 6.

    your rule is 6^n (where n is the term number)

  3. Looks like y = 6^n
