A description of the LAN topology design that will be used at 3 offices, and a checklist of cabling specifications for a cabling contractor.

  1. This far along in class you should really know this. It is basic stuff.

    3 offices huh? In the same building? In the same office park? In the same city/state????

    Star is the best & most efficient. Backbone needs to be Fiber. You'd want Cat6 since when everything goes from Cat5e to Cat6 you don't want to tear out everything to install the new cables.

    How many users in each office? You need to know this to determine type & amount of Routers/Switches. Also will you outsource your DHCP or service your own? How about email server, printer server,.....
