I need help. My phone has been unplugged somewhere. It's a landline. When I pick it up there is no dial

tone. The service is on, someone has done it to spite me. I need to know where I can check to plug it back in. I just need some help :(

  1. Someone did that to me too. It was disconnected from the basement.  Check around. Trace the phone line from your telephone and see if you can find where the disconnection is.


  2. also, did you try the phone in any unused jacks you might have?  sometimes a jack or individual line can go bad.  if you still don't find any problems, find the phone company access box, usually outside.  there should be a jack in it, if you don't get a dial tone there it's a problem in the line outside.  inside problems you have to pay for unless you have a maintenance agreement, outside the phone company pays for it.

  3. Usually outside your house there is a small (usaully grey) box where the telephone wire comes into your house. If you called a proffesional he would open that box and disconnect the wires and see if he had dial tone then he would follow it into the house and wherever there was a split disconnect one side then the other to track down the problem. Also if you know where the junction box is inside your house you could use a fuse tester to look for a short.
