ok i am really mad/worried/nervous.

please read the story below PLEASE!

ok so we took this test to be in the advanced math class last year, either u make 8th grade math or just regular 7th grade. after the test, the teacher told me that i had a very high score and that she would recommend me and that i would most likely make the class. later in the summer i got texts that people who made the class got a letter, and i didn't get one. by then i was really mad, b/c not to seem full of myself, but i am one of the smartest kids in the grade, i got all hundreds on my report card. my mom emailed the the counselor who was in charge of the tests and scores and all of that. first she said that it might be hard to find if i didn't put my name on it. then she emailed again and said i got an 82 and only people w/ 90's and above made it in. now they want me to either retake it or be stuck in the 7th grade class. its the end of the summer and i haven't done any math all summer and i am worried i will make like a 60.

i am retaking it, and it is over algebra. any ideas of what to study? i am really worried.

thanks

  1. Don't be so nervous.  Let everything play out as it does.  You will be fine.  If you are going to be stuck in 7th grade math then let it be.  You will get more practice and be a pro at 8th grade math.  And 82 is a wonderful grade.  Good job, and good luck!!

  2. I understand you haven't done math in about 3 months but you shouldn't worry.  I recommend playing some big brain academy just to sharpen your response times.  Otherwise relax and maybe go over the last few tests you took last year to remind yourself what you have learned before.

Also since you recieved an 82 maybe you should stay in the 7th grade math class and not move up.  If you do really well you can try to move up later in the year.

  3. It has been too long since I've been in 7th grade math but I find for any kind of generalized test like that, the BEST thing you can study is an ACT workbook. Just go throgh and do all the problems you remember studying the previous year. Definately retake it though. Get as far ahead as you possibly can so you can take more AP classes in high school. Besides, what would it hurt if you did completely bomb it? You would only be in the same boat you are right now.. Good Luck!
