I know you are all probably tired of hearing about this from me (especially Brant) but I need a science fair idea. I have been researching more and more over the past month and still can't find a good project. The only thing I found was some really interesting stuff on Gamma Ray Bursts. I need a real research project. Not a science project like make a sun dial, or research mars. I need a real research project that undergrads would do. (since i almost am one). Any ideas please? (astronomy only please)

  1. http://www.sciencebuddies.org

  2. How about a project on Red/Blue shift to determine the speed distant objects are moving away/towards you? Hope this helps!

  3. This Should Be Easy For A Undergrad

Just make a Model of the Solar system

  4. in the absence of any background information like budget, available equipment, or time frame, this is impossible to answer.

i think it would be cool to do something with radio astronomy, for instance. or maybe some spectroscopic analysis of stars and nebulae. but it's your project, not mine. your own initiative and creativity are an integral part of this, and, as far as i'm concerned, you have already failed.

undergrads don't generally do research. they do as they are told. grad students do research.

  5. Explain the planets of our solar system using a system of harmonics in their relationship to each other.  Indicate how when the mass of one in orbit effects the others.  Examples (Mercury makes 3 orbits to Venus 2 orbits),   (Jupiter makes 5 orbits to Saturn's 2 orbits).  Now look-up the other planets and their relationships to each other.  Pluto may have one 7 orbits to a unknown X planet in a  2 orbit?  If using a off the wall idea is too big!  Look up the planets orbital durations and only use prime numbers for rough alignments.  Because we do not have all the data for needed physics and other masses that will skew precision.  Just theorize possible other bodies and have fun at a guess.  Have fun!!!!!!!

  6. do one about the quantum theory of gravity. just talk about what it is and why scientists are trying to create one

  7. follow the history of particle accelerators from 1937 thru today... describe their research , list the findings, and the new questions that showed up from same... build a simple model that explains how the magnets are used and give info on the fantastic cameras.....

    somewhere to start...
