i want to use Crispix cereal (half n half corn n rice) instead of the Chex...use Cheddar and plain Goldfish crackers instead of bagel chips... I'll still use nuts and pretzels.....and toss in M&Ms after its all done and sat overnight.

Would this work???

  2. yes. there is no rules with chex mix well crispix mix!

  3. yes!

  4. All the substitutions sound great with the exception of the M&M's - I don't thing they would taste very good when combined with Worcestershire sauce & garlic powder.  Here's a yummy recipe that uses both Crispix & M&Ms.  We call it good stuff mix & it's addicting:

    2 1/2 sticks butter

    3/4 cup brown sugar

    1 teaspoon baking soda

1 family size box Crispix (If i can't find, I use 1 & 1/2 boxes of the regular size)

1 can of cashew pieces (any nut can be substituted, but the cashews are the best)

    1 bag (12 oz I think) M&Ms

While butter melts on low heat in small saucepan, empty cereal into a brown paper grocery bag & set aside.  Add sugar to melted butter & stir until sugar dissolves.  Add baking soda & stir.  Mixture will foam up.  Remove from heat & pour directly over cereal.  Close bag & shake to combine.  Microwave for 5 minutes, taking out after each minute to shake bag.  After microwaving complete, spread on waxed paper to cool.  Add cashews & M&Ms - enjoy!!

This stuff is so good, I can make it on a Saturday afternoon & it's gone by that night.

  5. Sure, it's just a party mix.  You can put in anything you want.  I like it with Cheerios and Shreddies myself.

  6. Yeah- if that's what you want.

  7. Sure!  Sounds good to me!  You may want to toss the cereal w/ the butter/worcestershire sauce, THEN add the goldfish, since they are already salted.

  8. CHEX PARTY MIX

    1/2 c. butter

    1 1/4 tsp. seasoned salt

    4 1/2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce

    2 c. Corn Chex cereal

    2 c. Rice Chex cereal

    2 c. Bran Chex cereal

    2 c. Wheat Chex cereal

1 c. salted mixed nuts and/or pretzel sticks

Preheat oven to 250 degrees. Heat butter in large shallow roasting pan (about 15 x 10 x 2 inches) in oven until melted. Remove. Stir in seasoned salt and Worcestershire sauce. Add Chex cereal and nuts. Mix until all pieces are coated. Heat in oven 1 hour. Stir every 15 minutes. Spread on absorbent paper to cool. Makes 9 cups.

NOTE: Mix may be frozen, so make a double batch. Thaw at room temperature in container in which it was stored.
