  1. its not that scary just think about where your going and how much fun it will be

  2. ur more likley to get hit by lightning or bit by a shark than crash in a plane...i think or its the other way around but ur 99% u wont crash iv been flying since i was 2 mounths old and nothings ever gone wrong

  3. hi my friend i thing you have to try doing something more scary and then you will fell that airplane it is just a good trip and it s a gift .

  4. Make it a conscious thought to keep steady breathing.

  5. I just feel the same. What can u do, ................nothing, its a must. Fly with good companies. Dont fly low cost carriers.

  6. Do some research on them. =]

Remember the good things about tem dont really get around, whereas the bad things are, and are exagerated so much.

Think about everything you feel when you see one, when you are on one and at different stages in the flight ie takeoff

At what point do you feel most scared? Once you know, try and figure out why, writing things down helps.

This is something you may or may not overcome, only you can make the decision on that one ;)

  7. There is nothing wrong with questioning the safety of something that is not already on the ground and not in your control.

The best thing to do; I always take a sleeping pill or two to knock me out.

Phobia's come with symptoms and are often times exaggerated. They are more of an obsessive fear.

  8. Ok think of this you've been on planes many times....................how many times have you actually crashed?

Trust me not to long ago I was terrified of even the thought of getting on one but I still loved them. The airlines will keep there planes safe thats alot of money to lose if they lose a plane.

    best of luck

    Cheers

  9. sorry not me. I used to love flying until I started watching NatGeo 's Air disaster, Air Emergency and Countdown to Disaster. I watched an episode where a door came off at 30000 feet. Killed some people( sucked em out) they ultimately discovered it was a maintenance problem HUMAN ERROR!! They had falsified some work orders and so forth. My problem was this-the accident in question involved an aircraft  that I was on only 4 years before the accident happened  the investigators said they were surprised the accident hadnt happened earlier than it did.  You watch a few of those episodes and you wont want to go up again. sorry, I just seen too many where a simple act by the maint. crew( like putting 75 cents worth of grease on a spring coil that allows the tail fin to work( That plane went into a dive from h**l straight into the atlantic ocean killed everyone) call me paranoid but I will damned if I ever trust a ground crew by any airline. God I used to love to fly but no more.

  10. get an ipod or portable dvd player. and just focus on the movie/music

  11. YA! You are more likely to get struck by lightning than to die in an airplane crash. You are more likely to win the lotto than get in an airplane crash.

  12. well if you are used to going on them and have been fine on them every time (no crashes) then try and relax!

  13. Well, you could just bring a baggy. Breath and blow into that. Or watch United 93. That movie should cure your miserable frights.

With all the Tired Pilots weaving in and out all the time. Just a matter of time more planes come to a crashing hault.

  14. I hate take-off, the bumpies, and the jump when you land. Other than that i'm good. But you hate the same things... i've found a few hints.  a) the larger the plane, the less you feel the turbulance. Smaller planes have to roll over airpockets, larger planes cut through them. b) Aisle or window - doesnt matter. I prefer window, so i can look at the scenery, its relaxing. c) clouds = bumpies.  when you see clouds/cloud lines... you can expect a lil shakey shakey... nothing too big. This is not the ONLY time bumpies show up... but when they show up, theres always a lil bumpy. d)Sit in front of the wing. Just like when you rode the bus in school... if you sit behind the wheels, when you hit a bump - you feel it more. Same on a plane. Also, on take off... that sinking feeling isnt as exaggerated in the front as it is in the back.

    Hope that helps.

  15. Did you know that we're usually afraid of things we don't understand? Sometimes by understanding them, we're not longer as afraid of them and they lose their hold on us.

    Sound appealing?

To bone up on flying, try learning more about flight itself at the Wiki link below. To learn about the actual far of flying, see the second link, which also discusses treatment, or the third link on fear of flying from Wikipedia which is a generally good rad with references.

    Good luck!

  16. sit in the middle seat or aisle seat nd sleep, listen to ipod

  17. It is a very common phobia and you can actually get medication that relaxes you when you fly from a DR. I know I have a few friends that have it...They used to have a few beers or drinks just to take the edge off..I don;'t know you age or if you could do that..

I still feel that its safer to fly than to be on the highway with all the crazy impatient drivers on the road.., On a plane you are with trained pilots and seems alot more organized except for the luggage and tickets and stuff like that...GOOD LUCK! I hope you find a way to fly without so much fear...Maybe just Pray if you are religious that works for me when I am afraid of anything.
