I need help answering a phone call?

ok i am talking on the phone and someone else calls how do i answer that call without hanging up with the person i am talking to

Actually it depends on what kind of phone you are using. I've experienced this from using different phones, if it's a corded phone just click the receiver button. If it's cordless not all will switch over doing this, you have to press TALK, ON and to switch back again do the same thing.

More precisely, just flash the hookswitch briefly for a fraction of a second.  That will place your original call on hold and let you answer the second call.  

Your phone may also have a button marked "R" or "Recall" which does the same thing.  If you are using a cordless phone, this will be the only way you can do it.

I've always used the "flash" button.  Maybe your phone is different, but all the phones I've used have one and that definitely works.  Also, if you were about done talking to your current caller and you hear a new call beeping in, you can finish your current call, hang up and then the new call will ring in.  Of course, you could always drag out the owner's manual to find out for sure, but who wants to do that?!  I am positive it's the flash button though.  I use it all the time.
