Im getting a hamster soon, its a dwarf hamster. Its white with brown spots and Im going to name it Hammie. I go to school during the day, 8am-3pm. I'm going to feed it morning, when i get home from school, and before i go to bed. While Im at school he'll have a wheel, and a couple toys so he can be entertained. Is this good? Also, when I get home I'll put it in the little ball thing where they roll around in on the floor.

  1. sounds like a great place for him!  I had a hamster and their wheels got annoying at night but its good to have!  Depending on the cage you have for him, hide treats to for him to sniff out and find during the day!  Remember if they are ever frightened they will bite and it WILL hurt.  Don't base buying him from that though! Just remember anything can bite at anytime! Hope i helped in some way!

  2. That's just perfect! You wouldn't want to over entertain Hammie, and hamsters need their own time, which could be while your at school. I'm not sure if it will play in the wheel during the day, but he/she will love it at night! Im glad your concerned about his personal play time. Good Luck!

  3. THAT IS GOOD KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK

  4. Ok, so Hammie should be good. do you have a mom or a sister who could play with him? if not just make sure his space is clean, he has enough, food/water, and that you give him attention before and after school.

  5. It sounds like you are determined to take care of your new pet.  Everything sounds perfect to me.   It's a good idea to stick to a routine with your hampster, a routine that he will be ready for everyday and that he will get used to.  Just make sure that if doesnt eat he''s food from the morning to not feed it anymore.  You only give it food when his container is empty.  If you find that your hampster is playful and energetic you might want to get it a cage with different obstacles.  It sounds like your ready so have fun with hammie!

  6. yes that's fine honestly they need there bowl filling every day or two and dwarfs are relatively small so as long as the cage is an average size and i used to have them and ididn'tt play with them that often but they out lived there expectations by 4 years

  7. dont worry Hammie will be absolutely fine, if you leave enough water and food for him during the day then he should be fine on his own. hamsters usually cope fine on their own, because you wont be playing with him 24/7 will you?

    Good luck!

(oh and if he gets a girlfrend and has babies then dont touch the babies because you will leave your scent on them and the mother will then eat the baby, horrible i know, but it happened to a friend of mine)
