  1. Hello. I have done south beach lost 40 lbs gained it back thru pregnancy and neglect. I am now on weight watchers, very great diet, it teaches you portion control and how to manage your appetite.  I am not doing meetings and doing great I accessed all of the info thru friends family and internet.  I lose 1-3 lbs a week.  I have a 1 and 2 yr old so exercising hwenever I want is also a problem w this plan at least i am still losing the weight. On the weeks that I do get more exercise in tho I obviously see more results. Give it a shot, I think they have free online special for them as we speak.  Good luck

  2. I lost alot of weight just by drinking only water     20 pounds in 2 months

  3. I agree wholeheartedly with *smile* - I gained through pregnancy and lost it all through just using common sense about portions and making it a priority to learn more about nutrition.

    My extra tidbits:

Asian culture in general is petite - many say it's due to their healthy diets of rice, fish, veggies.  It is also because they eat until they are 80% full.  This means that if you eat until right before you know you're going to feel full (not stuffed) - then stop.  There is still food that you've already eaten processing and digesting and if you wait a bit you'll realize that you're already full.

Go to www.mypyramid.gov.  It will tell you all you need to know about exactly what you should eat each day and how much.  You can customize it to meet your needs regarding weight loss and everything!! You can also get info customized for your kids too - that way you can make meals and know that your whole family is learning to eat healthier.  It doesn't do a bit of good to lose all that weight if everyone else is eating junk food.  And it's a good feeling to know that your kids are going to be healthier and more energetic and have great eating habits from the start.

Also - I don't know how old your kids are or how much time you have but set goals for yourself as far as being active.  Like:  Every time I watch tv I'm going to jump rope during commercials.  or Every day I'm going to go outside and run around with my kids for 30 minutes (if it's raining, it's your choice whether or not you let them go out and jump in puddles).  Someone else mentioned Wii Fit.  It doesn't matter what it is but make sure you try to do as much as you can without straining TOO much.

Good luck with your weight loss and healthy habits!

  4. Bicycling for like 5 miles at first and adding half a mile each week will help you lose weight.

  5. My sister tried the south beach diet she said it turned out okey too!

  6. I know you know this, but DIETING will not work. you just have to say no to yourself for that piece of cake, ice cream cone, french toast with whipped cream. You know what it tastes like, already- forget it.

Every time you watch TV, do butt crunches, some good stretches, little jogs, jump rope, hula-hoop. Anything to keep moving.

As far as food, eat loads of fresh veggies. Salads, veggies and low fat ranch etc. Just remember- the fresher the food and the least ingredients- the better. Chop up pineapple, strawberries and cantaloupe and leave it in your fridge for quick snacks.

Eat rice for carbs, only choose whole grain breads. Be picky about what you put in your body. Become a food snob.

If you want a taste of your kids yummy desserts- have a bite- ONE bite. There ya go. That should satisfy that craving.

If you love chocolate, keep a stash of junior mints near by. They are one the lowest cal/fat chocolate snacks. Also, you can get low cal hot chocolate to zap those cravings.

I gained 60 lbs with my last daughter, during pregnancy, and 4 months later I was back to a size 0, by eating and exercising this way.

Oh... make a fitness opportunity in EVERYTHING. Going to store? Park far away so you have to walk. Going to the mall? Clench your butt muscles and power walk from store to store. Clean like a maniac (that burns a lot). Take your kids to the park and chase them around, go on hikes etc.

    Good luck.
