Ive bought amd athlon 3800+ cpu, when I looked at the system information, it says, it has only 2.4 ghz, why is it so? Ive thought they mean by 3800+ equal 3800 mhz?

  1. usually that means the model types/names, u need to read the specifications of the cpu to know how much clock speed it really has i never seen a 3.8 ghz unless it was overclocked


  2. 3800+ is rate (rating).

    2400 is your REAL frequency (rate).

    AMD does not indicate on its processors the real rate (frequency), but indicates rate (rating). Rate (rating) shows the frequency (rate) of the other processor (Semprom lets say) it should work with in order to achieve the same productivity as AMD has.

  3. 3800 is the model number, like the intel core 2 duo 8400 is not actually a 8400 Mhz processor (it's actually 2.4 Ghz)  

  4. The 3800 stands for something else like maybe the version but its not the ghz

  5. It's a performance rating not a clock speed.
