I need help building a light sensing robot, can someone help me?

I'm attempting to build a light sensing robot with some parts i scavenged and some other parts i got from radioshack, but i'm sort of a nube at robotics so some help from a robotics wiz would be greatly appreciated. I'm looking for someone i can have a conversation with and ask many questions (probably nube ones), thank you!
