  1. Its very expensive. Where I live it's about $125 an hour. But if you can't afford it then you surely qualify for some medical assistance. Call a local menatl health clinic and ask them where you can check into financial help.

  2. All health care providers do not cost the same.  Psychiatrist or otherwise.  You need to pick up the phone book in your area and start making some phone calls.

Another option would be to contact your local church, or another charitable-type-organization for help.

  3. if you really need help, then you will qualify for some free help.

  4. Do you need a psychiatrist, a medical doctor specializing in psychiatry, who can prescribe medication? Or a psychologist or therapist, not medical doctors but with degrees in psychology?

Psychiatrists cost a lot, as does the medication if you don't have insurance. Therapists/Psychologists will charge between $85-120.

  5. It can vary.  I went and saw a lady for counseling and she had her masters and RN and did many counseling groups and individual counseling.  She was about 80 dollars an hour.  A psychiatrist may charge more.  You can tell them you don't have much money or insurance and see if they will lower the price for you.

I pray for your good health and pray that you will feel comfort and peace when you begin your therapy for whatever it is that troubles you.  God Bless you.

  6. Each psychiatrist sets his/her own fees. You would need to call their office to find out.

  7. If you have a university medical center in your area call their psychiatric dept and ask for assistance. Many have low fee services, as low as 20 dollars per visit to see a psych resident, an MD who is in training, supervised by a psychiatrist. Sometimes the fee is lower depending on income.

Don't bother with private doctors you either need insurance or pay their whole fee up front.

    We need universal health care.

  8. Try going to a mental health facility that lets you pay according to income.  If you are very low income, they will charge you practically nothing.  Just ask around where you live.  I believe you'll find a place like this.  I go to one of these facilities and don't pay much.  It's very affordable.
