I really want a digital SLR camera but I don't know which one is the best. I thought maybe I would get the Nikon D60 because I heard that it was easy to use. But I also heard that Canon had the best cameras. I need one that is easy to use and has great picture quality. Any advice?

  1. both canon and nikon are good.. if you choose the nikon d60,i would suggest the canon 450D.it has live view function and 12.2 megapixel.

  2. I like the Pentax system (K200 is in similar price point).  You have in body shakr reduction, metal mount kit lenses, weather sealing, and ability to use a lot of older Pentax glass without the expense of buying new stuff. I've shot Nikon before (about 8 yrs) and it's a good system too. But like the previoius guy said. Go with what feels, good in your hands, how do you like the controls, does it have the modes you need?

    they all produce great images

  3. nikon d60 is really super digital camera, get it without any hesitation

  4. Both Canon & Nikon are excellent cameras, and both offer a wide array of lenses and other accessories.  The entry level DSLR cameras are in general, easy to use, and both have excellent picture quality.

Go to http://dpreview.com and compare the cameras side by side, look for the features that interest you.  Read the reviews, there are sample photos in the reviews.  Then go to a real camera store, (not best buy or wal mart) and handle the different cameras, try the cameras with different lenses, and think about what you want to shoot with your camera.  Then buy the one that fits you the best.

  5. Canon are amazing.

You can buy the new Canon 450D or get the 400D very cheap at the moment due to the new 450D :)

You will probably hear people equally arguing that Nikon and Canon are the best.

  6. I regularly use both Nikon and Canon DSLR cameras.  Neither is better, they both have their good an bad points.  I simply prefer Canon because that is the brand I chose to go with for SLR(my brother owns the Nikons.)

If you're going to put the money into a DSLR camera, you should be ready to learn to use the manual settings or it is just a waste of money.

Consider these cameras: Nikon D40, Canon Rebel XTi, Canon 20D.  Search the DSLR cameras on reveiws.cnet.com (and other reviews sites) and decide which is best FOR YOU!  I highly suggest you try them out in a store too.

Like I said, you will want to learn the manual settings if purchasing a DSLR, so the only important thing you should be worrying about is choosing one you will be happy using for a long time.

  7. I got a Canon SLR Rebel XT - easy breezy camera! It's my first SLR and it is so easy to use.
