  1. the jvc is good but they are shooting 720. sony hvr-v1p shoots 1080 25p. it has seperate audio controls and the vision is stunning.

do yourself a favour. DON NOT get a hard drive cam.

mini dv is better. you know why?

    - better resolution (far better than HDD which is heavilly compressed)

    - better archiving

    - tapes are cheap.

    - if you'r internal hard drive stuffs up then you camera is in trouble but if your tape snuff's it just get another one, clean the heads and away ya go!

24 fps is only useful if you plan on doing a 35mm blowup which will cost you around AU$50,000. if it's screening on projector (digital or tv) there is absolutely no point. and besides, you won't get a cam under $4000 that'd do it.

    hope it helps!

  3. 24 frames per second is really not that great at all... they make alot better ones.

  4. OK, you'll be asking a lot from your budget and your expertise to shoot well in 24fps. The ideal camera for professional moviemaking with this spec is the JVC GY-HD111e (Gy-HD110 in US). It can shoot in 24fps as well as a few other HD formats. I use two of these all the time and they do produce the best film look I've ever seen from digital camcorders. They have their own hard drive attachment for the camera.

However..you will need to know how to shoot in 24fps too. It's very much like shooting film but you have to always be aware of the speed that subjects move through the frame etc to avoid judder. This comes from experience and a lot of tears normally.

As for low light...be aware that any HD format will be very susceptible to low light conditions...so as well as being good with the camera you will have to do your ground work on lighting too.

Best of luck with your movies

    Hope this helps
