i have 2 10" sony xplod subwoofers, each of the subs has 1100 watts peak output, 300 watts rms output, and 4 ohms. Can i put the subs with an 1000 watt rca 2 channel bridgeable amp? will that be fine or mess everything up?

  1. yes it will work as long as you dont go over the peak output for the speakers it wil be fine but you also have to make sure that the amp is big enough that is what the rms is for that tells you how much you need to run each speaker. you have a 600 rms with 2 speakers and 2200 max output so yes 1000 watt is fine, and try it unbridged first then if you think it needs alittle more then bridge it. if you want better subs then go with Memphis or JL or Kicker sony is ok but you get what you pay for

  2. Yes the 1000 watt amp will work but you have to think about the quality of you system if you have the cash a 1000 watt kenwood goes for bout 100 bucks at best buy. i run the 1000 watt kenwood for my 2-12" Rockford P2s and it powers them beyond my needs. RCA is a cheap brand and may be overrated.

  3. One thing that you have to learn is to ignore the peak value for subwoofers and amplifiers.

RMS is what matters, that and frequency response.

Running it on the 2 channel amp will be fine, be sure that you don't bridge both subs though, you will blow that amp because it will produce a 2 ohm load on the amplifer.

When you wire them, wire them left and right.  You can then adjust the amplifier by ear, or go here (www.realmofexcursion.com), download the 50 hz track. get a digital voltmeter,  set your volume to about 3/4 on your head unit with all your EQ setings on 0. set the volt meter to AC voltage, start your amp with 0 gain, and start moving it up slowly with the voltmeter attached to one channel of your amp.  When the voltmeter hits 14.14 volts, then you're pushing 300 Watts.  (the RMS for your subs).
